Danio Privacy Policy

Danio is built to keep your aquarium data on your device. This page explains what stays there, the little that leaves it, and your choices.

What stays on your device

Everything you enter in Danio — tanks, water test readings, maintenance events, livestock and plants, reminders, notes and photos — is stored only on your device. Danio has no account and no server of its own, and we cannot see this data.

• Reminders are scheduled locally by iOS.
• Photos you add are copied into Danio's storage on your device.
• If you use iCloud Backup, your iPhone's backup includes Danio's data. That backup is handled by Apple, and we cannot access it.
• Exports are files you create and share yourself.

What leaves your device, and why

Danio uses two outside services. Neither receives your name, your email address, your Apple Account, or anything you enter in the app.

Purchases — RevenueCat

RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., United States) processes your in-app purchases so Danio knows what you have unlocked. It receives App Store transaction information — which plan, when, and in which App Store country — linked to a random identifier created for your installation, not to your identity.

Apple Ads attribution — Apple, through RevenueCat

Danio may be promoted with Apple Ads. To see which ads lead to purchases, the app asks Apple for an attribution token and passes it to RevenueCat. Apple then tells RevenueCat whether Danio was downloaded from an Apple Ads campaign and, if so, which campaign, ad group and keyword. This does not use your device's advertising identifier and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Anonymous usage counts — Aptabase

Aptabase (Technov Solutions SRL) counts three events, and nothing else:

• setup completed;
• plans screen opened, with the screen it was opened from;
• purchase completed, with the screen the plans screen was opened from.

Each event carries basic technical information: app version and build, iOS version, and whether it comes from a development build. Aptabase does not use device identifiers or cookies. On its servers, it uses the connection's IP address to estimate an approximate location (country and region) and to compute a temporary identifier that changes every 24 hours, so events cannot be linked across days. This data is stored in the United States.

We use these counts only to understand whether setup works and which screens lead people to the plans screen, so we can improve Danio.

You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous usage data. When it is off, Danio sends no events. Events sent before you turned it off cannot be recalled, because they are not linked to you.

Crash reports and statistics — Apple

If you turned on Share With App Developers in your iPhone's Settings (Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may share crash reports and usage statistics about Danio with us. Apple collects and aggregates this information under its own privacy policy. You can turn it off at any time in the same setting.

If you contact us

If you email us — directly, or from Danio through "Contact the developer" or the feedback prompt — we receive your email address and your message, and use them only to reply. We keep your emails only as long as needed to handle your request.

What Danio does not do

• No ads inside the app.
• No selling or sharing of your data with advertisers or data brokers.
• No tracking across other companies' apps or websites.

How long data is kept, and how to delete it

• On your device: deleting Danio deletes its data from your device. It may remain in your own device backups until they are replaced.
• Aptabase: events are kept for up to 5 years. They cannot be deleted individually, because they cannot be linked to you.
• RevenueCat: purchase records are kept to manage your purchases. To request deletion, email us with the Order ID from your Apple receipt, and we will do our best to locate and delete the matching record. Apple keeps its own purchase records under Apple's privacy policy.

Third-party services

RevenueCat and Aptabase process this data on our behalf, under agreements and privacy commitments that protect it at least as well as this policy.

Children

Danio is not directed at children under 13.

Legal bases and international transfers

If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union, we rely on the following legal bases:

• Purchases (RevenueCat): to provide what you bought.
• Apple Ads attribution: our legitimate interest in measuring our advertising.
• Anonymous usage counts (Aptabase): our legitimate interest in improving Danio. You can object at any time with the switch in Settings → Privacy.
• Emails you send us: our legitimate interest in replying to you.

RevenueCat and Aptabase store this data in the United States. These transfers are covered by the safeguards in their data processing agreements.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, delete or object to the processing of your personal data. Because Danio has no account and keeps nothing tied to your identity, the sections above answer most requests. For anything else, email us. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority — in the United Kingdom, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will change too.
